Maeve McCaffrey was born at home on her family’s small organic farm in Vermont, the youngest child of three older brothers. She was raised in an environment of health and wellness, music and creativity. Their farm also housed a natural food store and her father bought and sold rare books. This eclectic upbringing is how Maeve was first introduced to yoga. Her mother, a former ballerina, practiced and taught yoga in her circle of friends.
Movement and sports came naturally to Maeve, but by today’s standards, she was a late bloomer into organized athletics. She spent most of her early years acting and playing music, not sports. In sixth grade she started soccer, playing into college, she started gymnastics in high school and was a sprinter on the track team. She first joined a gym at 16 and started teaching fitness at 20. It was through sports and fitness that she came full circle to yoga to keep a healthy body.
While in college for Marketing Communications, Maeve began teaching a robust schedule of fitness classes which began to take a toll on her body. One of the clubs at which she was teaching added a yoga class after her last class of the evening. She decided to stay one day and it became part of her weekly routine. A few years later she began an Ashtanga practice and soon after took her first teacher training.
Maeve has worked in many facets of health and fitness for some of the most elite brands in the industry, e.g., Public Relations for IHRSA; top tier Private Trainer, master trainer and group yoga/fitness instructor for the Sports Club/LA; Yoga and Fitness Instructor, Teacher Trainer and National Director of Teachers and Programming at YogaWorks; and Yoga and Group Fitness instructor Equinox.
